Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, popularly known as Vizag Steel, is an integrated steel producer in Visakhapatnam, India built using German and Soviet technology.[citation needed] The company has grown from a loss-making industry to 3-billion-dollar turnover company registering a growth of 203.6% in just four years. Vizag Steel Plant was conferred Navratna status on 17 November 2010.
Founded in 1971, the company focuses on producing value-added steel, with 214,000 tonnes produced in August 2010, out of 252,000 tonnes total of salable steel produced.[2] It is the largest single site plant in India and Asia minor (or south and east Asia combined).

Junior Trainee:
  • SSC with full time ITI / Diploma in Engineering in the following Trades/ Disciplines & B.Sc, B.Com, BA  (60% marks in regular ITI / Diploma in Engineering for Gen/OBC candidates, 50% marks for SC/ST/PWD candidates)

  • Note: Diploma in Engineering / any graduation including Professional degrees e.g., BE/ B.Tech, BL, BHMS etc., MBA/ Post Graduation or above

Selection Process:
Junior Trainee:
Written Test will be conducted on General Aptitude (including knowledge in English and Telugu) and Domain (Mechanical / Electrical / Metallurgy). Test papers will be set in bilingual in English and Telugu.Candidates shortlisted based on performance in written test will be called for Certificate Verification. Merit list will be prepared separately for each branch and candidates will be selected as per the vacancies in each branch.
  • Selection will be through Written Test and Certificate Verification.
  • Candidates will have to appear for the written test at their own cost. Written test will be conducted at test centre(s) in Andhra Pradesh.
  • Likely date for Written Test is 9th July 2017 (Forenoon).
Field Assistant Trainee:
Written Test will be conducted on General Aptitude (including knowledge in English and Telugu). Test papers will be set in bilingual in English and Telugu. Candidates shortlisted based on performance in written test will be called for Certificate Verification followed by Physical test.
  • Selection will be through Written Test, Certificate Verification & Physical Test for other than PWD candidates and through Written Test & Certificate Verification for PWD candidates.

Eligibility: (a) Graduates with minimum three years degree course in any discipline from a recognized University with a minimum of Candidates should have mandatorily passed 60% marks or equivalent. with a minimum of 60% marks each in Maths (b) BE/B Tech degree (Four years course) from a recognised & Physics at 10+2 level. Logistics: Graduate Degree (Minimum three years degree course) in any discipline from a recognised university with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent or cleared section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India from a recognised university with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.
Accounts: B.Com. degree (Minimum three years degree course) from a recognised university with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.

Selection Procedure:
  • Written Examination (on 27th August 2017). Engineering Knowledge Test for Ground Duty (Technical)
  • AFCAT will be for two hours and will contain multiple choice questions on verbal ability, numerical ability, reasoning, general awareness and military aptitude. Sample question papers and syllabus of AFCAT/ EKT is available on IAF career website www.careerairforce.nic.in. EKT would be for 45 minutes and conducted immediately after AFCAT. It is mandatory for the candidates opting for Ground Duty (technical) branch to pass both AFCAT & EKT
  • Candidates who are short-listed on the basis of AFCAT/ EKT will be called for further testing at one of the Air Force Selection Boards (AFSBs) at Dehradun, Mysore, Gandhinagar or Varanasi. Candidates who opt for flying branch can opt for Dehradun, Mysore and Varanasi only.
